Financial support direction (FSD)

Where the employer of a defined-benefit (DB) scheme (www.practicallaw.com/0-107-7545) is "insufficiently resourced" or a "service company" (as defined in section 44 of the Pensions Act 2004), the Pensions Regulator (www.practicallaw.com/9-201-5137) may require financial support to be put in place for the purpose of maintaining the solvency of the scheme.
