The UCITS IV Directive: EU legislative route and adoption

The UCITS IV Directive (2009/65/EC) (UCITS IV) was adopted by the Council of the EU on 22 June 2009. The final text of UCITS IV was published in the Official Journal of the EU on 17 November 2009 and member states had to implement the Directive by 1 July 2011.

This practice note outlines the progress of UCITS IV from the publication of the original European Commission proposal to its final adoption. It also contains information about its implementing measures.
